Yesterday this website reached 100,000 all-time unique visitors! I am very excited about what this site has been and what it will be in the future. Thanks to everyone who has visited this site and please keep coming back!

In the process of thinking about how to expand this site into new content areas, I started wondering how many regular visitors I really have. Yes, I use Google Analytics so I can see how many visits this site gets and how many times people come back and stuff, but statistics lie and anyway how many visits in what time period makes someone a regular visitor? Basically, it is very hard to use the stats provided by Google Analytics and decide I have x number of regular visitors. Because of this, I have decided to start a poll. The question is “Are you or do you plan to be a regular visitor to this site?” Answering the poll will help me get an idea of how many regular visitors I have. This, in turn, will help me expand and add content to this site.

I am now using WordPress 2.5 on this blog and the Linux News blog. All the reviews of it have been great, but there seems to be little new functionality wise. It is a little prettier and the dashboard has been improved, but I liked the old version of the dashboard, too. Anyway, I am happy that I upgraded.
Also, for other WordPress bloggers, if you have not already tried out the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin, it is great! It made the upgrade to 2.5 totally painless.

The Linux pumpkin page has now become “Holiday Linux Projects” which includes both the pumpkin and some new “open-source eggs.” The old Linux pumpkin page will now redirect to Holiday Linux projects.

I am going to be away for a few days soon. I do not know yet if I will be able to get online while I am away, so I am planning on pre-preparing some articles about upcoming releases from smaller distros and explaining what is cool about each distro and what will be new in the upcoming release. If anyone would like to write an article (or a few) to be published on this site along with a link to the author’s website, please contact me here (use reason “other” since I am too lazy to go add a category just for this :-)) or at webmaster@linuxloop.com.
Also, any ideas for article I can prepare in advance would be great!
Thanks!

I just finished making a huge change to LinuxLoop.com: a new header/navigation bar. Due to some sloppy coding and some very good coding when I first made this site, the change was both hard in some ways and easy in others. Anyway, it is done now.
My biggest concern with the new design is/was the ad that is now in the header. I don’t want this site to become one of those 50% ads 50% lame content sites. In the end I decided to go ahead with the change for a number of reasons. The main reason was that everyone I showed the new design to liked it better than the old design and I seemed to be the only one who was concerned about the ad.
I think the site looks better now with the new design overall. I would love to hear your opinion on the new design. You may leave a comment, email me (webmaster@linuxloop.com), or use the contact link at the bottom of this page.

I have updated the index page to look a little cleaner and have some more up-to-date information. Tell me what you think of it. I am still manually updating it, though. I would love to find a way to integrate the RSS feed from the Linux News Blog into the home page, but I have not found anything I like.

Welcome! I set this blog up as a place for readers to have more say in the content and as a place to give a behind-the-scenes look at LinuxLoop.com. Don’t expect daily updates like I do on the Linux News part of this site, though. I will move all the posts on the Linux News Blog marked LinuxLoop.com to this blog, so don’t be surprised when there are a few things from long ago.
